John Holmes , AIA

John Holmes and Jeff Stuhr established Holst Architecture in 1992. Founded with a belief that thoughtful and inspired architecture can be made in the real world, with real world constraints. Since that time, Holst has slowly built a body of work that exemplifies this underlying value. Recent work at Holst Architecture has focused on mixed use infill projects within Portland, Oregon. The first of this project type, the Belmont Lofts completed in 2004, was featured in Dwell magazine and received a Merit Award in the 2005 Wood Design Awards. John received his Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Oregon in 1982. John is an adjunct professor at the University of Oregon and a visiting critic at Portland State University.
